    Abstract

    The purpose of this research is to improve: (1) the quality of the learning process of writing the text of the short story, and (2) the writing skill of the short story by application of the field trip methods and newspaper media. The subject of the research is grade VII C MTs Country Kalijambe 2016/2017 school year. This research is a Action Research class (PTK) which was implemented in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the planning phase, observation, interpretation, and of analysis, and reflection stage. The data source that used are event, the informant, documents. Data collection get by interview, observation, and analysis of documents. Test the validity of the data used are triangulation, data source triangulation and review of informant. Data analysis techniques using the comparative, descriptive and critical analysis techniques. Application of the method of field trip and the newspaper media is able to improve the quality of the learning process the text of short story writing skills indicated by the performance of teachers and students. The performance of the teachers at pracycle gain value of 55.00, on cycle I increased to 70.71, while on cycle II increased to 80.71. Students also experience increased performance on each cycle. In the pracycle, the percentage of students performance 23.07%, then increases in Cycle I became 50.00%, while on cycle II increased to 80.76%. The increase was also seen in the text of the short story writing skills of students. In the pracycle, the average value of the students of 60.73 with grade of 30.77%. In cycle I, the average value of the students of 72.19 with grade of 61.54%. In cycle II, the average value of the students of 77.23 with grade of 77.23 with grade sebear 84.62%. Based on the action that has been done, can be drawn conclusions that: the application of the method of field trip and the newspaper media is able to improve the quality of the process of learning writing skills text short stories in grade VII MTs Kalijambe Country.
