    Abstract

    The utilization of Ultisols as plantation by PT. Great Giant Pineapple cause soil becomes solid. Change the cropping system of monoculture done to resolve soil compaction. This study aims to determine Ultisolss soil compaction planted with cropping system of pineapple - king grass and pineapple - cassava. Research was conducted in August-October 2016 in PT. Great Giant Pineapple, Central Lampung. The method used is exploratory and purposive sampling with parameters that soil compaction, soil bulk density, soil particle density, and soil total porosity. Data were analyzed descriptively and tested using the t test and then proceed correlation test. The results showed that the soil compaction planted with pineapple - pineapple (1.50 to 1.97 mpa)> pineapple-king grass (1.38 to 1.93 mpa)> pineapple-cassava (1.22 to 1.86 mpa). Soil compaction differences between the sites due to the bulk density is due to the soil organic matter content of the soil resulting from the change of the plant.
