    Abstract

    Haniva Farhaningrum. K2210032. Correlation between Students’Writing Habit, Vocabulary Mastery and Writing Skill (At the tenth grade of SMK N 1 Sawit in the academic year of 2016/2017). Thesis, Surakarta: Teacher and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University, 2017. The researcher focuses on answering three questions: (1) Is there any correlation between students’ writing habit and writing skill?,(2) Is there any correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and writing skill?, and (3)Is there any correlation between students’ writing habit and vocabulary mastery simultaneously and writing skill?. The research uses quantitative method, that is, correlation study. It was conducted in SMK N 1 Sawitin the academic year of 2016/2017. The sample of the research was class X TKJ 2 of SMK N 1 Sawit which consisted of 30 students. In order to obtain the required data, the researcher uses questionnaire for writing habit, multiple choice test for vocabulary mastery, and writing test of recount text. To analyst the data, the researcher uses Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Correlation. The result reveal that there is a significant positive correlation relationship between writing habit vocabulary mastery, and writing skill.The result of the computation shows that the correlation coefficients (Ro) between students’ writing habit (X1), students’ vocabulary mastery (X2) simultaneously and writing skill (Y) is 0.647,and consulted to the F value. it shows that The value of Fo (10.4727) is higher than Ft(2.27) for α = 0.05 is 3,35. It means that there is a significant, positive correlation between students’ writing habit (X1), students’ vocabulary mastery(X2) simultaneously and writing skill (Y) of the tenth grade students of SMK N 1 Sawit in the academic year of 2016/2017. Besides that, the total effective contribution of two independent variables to the dependent variable is 41.93%. It means that the increase of students’ writing habit and students’ vocabulary mastery will be followed by the increase of students’ writing skill. It also shows that students’ writing habit and students’ vocabulary mastery influence the students’ writing skill of 41.93% while58.07% of students’ writing skill is contributed by other factors.
