    Abstract

IMPROVING CRITICAL THINKING SKILL AND OUTCOME LEARNING OF SCIENCE ABOUT FORCE THROUGH GUIDED INQUIRY LEARNING MODEL USING MULTIMEDIA FOR THE THIRD GRADE STUDENTS OF SDN 1 MANGUNWENI IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2016/2017. Thesis, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta.May 2017. The objectives of this research are: (1) ) to describe the steps on the use of guided inquiry model using multimedia; (2) to improve critical thinking skill of science about science through guided inquiry model using multimedia; (3) to improve learning outcome of science about force through guided inquiry model using multimedia for the third grade students of SDN1 Mangunweni in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted within two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects of the research were teacher and third grade students of SDN 1 Mangunweni. Data were collected were qualitative data and quantitative data. Techniques of collecting data were observation, interview, and test of students’ learning outcome. The validity of data in this research was analyzed using triangulation of sources and triangulation of technique. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion or verification. The results of this research show that: (1) the steps on the use of guided inquiry learning model using multimedia, namely: (a) orientating by presenting multimedia, (b) conceptualizing by using multimedia, (c) investigation, (d) drawing conclusion, (e) and discussing and explanation by using multimedia; (2) the use of guided inquiry learning model using multimedia can improve critical thinking skill. It was proven by the percentage of first cycle 74,08%, and in the second cycle 86,81%; (3) the use of guided inquiry learning model using multimedia can improve students’ learning outcome. It was proven by the increase of learning outcome in the first cycle 77,72% and the second cycle 94,56%. The conclusion of this research is the use of guided inquiry learning model using multimedia can improve critical thinking skill and students’ learning outcome of IPA about force for the third grade students of SDN 1 Mangunweni in the academic year of 2016/2017.
