    Abstract

    Snake fruit (Salacca zalacca) is one of the superior fruit commodities from Indonesia. Improving the quality of snake fruit can be made through plant breeding. The level of genetic di versity has an important rol e in plant breedi ng. This study aims to study di versity of snake fruit that comes from di fferent regions based on genetic markers RAPD. Di versity of snake fruit can determined by genetic similarity. The sample consisted of Bejal en, Enrekang, Gul apasir and Kembangarum. DNA isolation used CTAB method with the addition of PVPP. The results of DNA isolation was ampli fied using RAPD primer OPA 11 and OPA 18. The results showed that the genetic similarity of snake fruit based from ampli fication usi ng OPA 11 and OPA 18 ranged from 0.53 to 0. 67. Lowest genetic similarity owned by snake fruit Bejal en with Bali and the hi ghest similarity coefficient is owned by snake fruit Kembangarum with Enrekang.
