    Abstract

    Ajik Dwi Santoso, 2017, Deflection of Small Scale Plate Models with Cakar Ayam System Based on Plate Thickness Using Finite Elemen Method (FEM) Analysis, Final Project of Civil Engineering Department Faculty of Engineering Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. Increased population growth. this is in contrast to the availability of land. Smaller quantities of land demand a development and innovation in the field of civil engineering including geotechnical fields. Land development (soil) as the support of structural load above it is not always good, for example soft soil (expansive clay). The behavior of expansive clay soil as a base soil structure can be seen from the value of deflection and carrying capacity due to the development of soil with thick plate variation to the Cakar Ayam System. This study observed deflection behavior on expansive soil using 3 model plates. The iron plate used is 70 cm long and 22.5 cm wide. Variations in thickness are 2 mm and 4 mm without claws, and 2 mm with claws. The claw dimension used is 5 cm long and 4 cm in diameter. The number of claws is 30 with a square pattern. The plate samples were placed on a 1.1 m long test box, 1.1 m wide and 0.6 m high. The loading method on the test plate is static repeated static loading with a load of 0.1-1.5 kN. The observations were then compared with the analysis using finite element method (FEM). Difference in observational vertical displacement values and analysis of finite element method for 3 test plates of 5.13 mm for test strips 2 mm, 3.8 mm for 2 mm test plate with claws, and 2.68 mm for 4 mm test plate. The difference in vertical displacement values between the laboratory observations and the analysis of the finite element method has not been approached. The vertical comparison graph of the 3 test plates concluded that the 2 mm without claw test plate had the highest displacement value in both the observation and analysis of the finite element method.
