    Abstract

    Rice( Oryza sativa) is the main commodity for food of Indonesians people. Increasing food demand is made to improve quality both in terms of rice quality and quantity, but in increasing the production of many obstacles faced by the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) which is a pest of rice crop. Brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) is a pest of rice plants. Cultivation of local rice varieties has been applied by farmers but unknown degree of resistant to brown planthopper. The resistant of the local rice varieties can be found based on a plant tissue of rice plant, that content is hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin. This research aims to know the content of hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin from several local varieties and preferences by brown planthopper. The study was conducted by using the method of test for rice varieties with eleven varieties were IR 64, Beras Merah Klaten, Beras Merah Slegreng, Beras Hitam, Inpari 13, Mentik Susu, Mentik Wangi, Pandan Wangi, Rojopusur, Rojolele, and Srikiti with a single swath. Field data were analyzed with descriptive tables and charts, data analysis the content of hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin were analyzed by using descriptive histogram and use t-test, with Microsoft Excel. The results showed that local rice 11 varieties with hemicellulosic content were highest in Beras Merah Slegreng and the lowest in Srikiti; The highest cellulose content in Inpari 13 and the lowest in Rojopusur; The highest lignin content at IR 64 and the lowest in Rojolele. Population of brown planthopper 11 varieties highest in Pandan Wangi and the lowest in Srikiti. If the hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin content are higher, the population of nymph is lower.
