    Abstract

    he objective of research to improve the concept mastery of Struggling for Preparing Indonesian Independence in V Grade of SD Negeri 02 Dagen by changing the learning strategy. This study belongs to a Classroom Action Research. The data source employed was data on each end of cycle, and the data on management of STAD type learning cooperative model. The subjects of research were the V grade of SD 02 Dagen Subdistrict Jaten Karanganyar in the school year of 2010/2011 consisting of 29 students, 13 boys and 16 girls. The data collection was done in this classroom action research employed the research instrument including: questionnaire, cognitive test item, and observation sheet. The data analysis was done using Miles & Huberman’s interactive analysis encompassing data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. Considering the result of research, it can be concluded that the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) Type of Cooperative learning method can improve the concept mastery of Struggling for Preparing Indonesian Independence in V Grade of SD Negeri 02 Dagen. This improvement is because the students get involved actively in the learning process. Before the action, the students’ achievement of concept mastery based on the mean achievement of precycle is 53.5, the students’ mean of concept mastery after the action based on the result of test in cycle I is 64.6, the students’ mean of concept mastery in cycle II is 68.3, and the students’ total mean of concept mastery based on the result of post test is 73.5. The percentage achievement of KKM ( 62) in pre-cycle is 13.8%, increases to 65.5% in cycle I, to 86.2% in cycle II, and 93.1% in post test result.
