    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Pramardika Hantara N. D1214062. 2017. ONLINE SHOP IN INSTAGRAM AND CONSUMTIVE BEHAVIOR, (Qualitative Descriptive Research Regarding Instagram Function Shift Becoming Online Promotion Media in Shaping Consumtive Behavior among Students of FISIP UNS). Essay. Communication Studies Program. Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. The presence of social media such as instagram amid Indonesian society, has changed the pattern of interaction and behavior of society. Instagram usage by the community, especially students at the present time is in the stage where the media and the internet seemed to be a need that must be met. The steady increase in Instagram users makes Instagram exploited by business people to serve as an online promotional medium. Until finally instagram develop not only as a social media, but also as a medium of buying and selling online (e-commerce). So the research was done in FISIP UNS by using uses and gratifications theory from Katz and Gurevitch. This research applies descriptive method with qualitative data where the source data obtained from sources that have been set criteria to answer the effect of shifting Instagram function of a social media to the media of online promotion in shaping consumptive behavior among students FISIP UNS as active Instagram users through in-depth interview. For the validity of the data used triangulation technique, while the technique of data analysis using descriptive analysis techniques that convey the overall information obtained and establish the pattern and seek relationships between several categories. The results showed that: (1) Instagram is the favorite media for FISIP UNS Students (2) Students realized Instagram shifted function from social media into online promotion media. (3) Instagram as an online promotional media affect the students of FISIP UNS. (4) Instagram usage as social media and online promotion media by FISIP UNS students bring consumptive behavior.
