    Abstract

    The objectives of the research are to know: 1) the influence of biological learning through guided inquiry and modified free inquiry methods towards the students’ biological achievement, 2) the influence of high and low level of memory ability toward the students’ biological achievement, 3) the influence of high and low level of learning independence toward the student’s biological achievement, 4) the interaction between learning method and the memory ability and the students’ biologicalachievement, 5) the interaction between the learning method and learning independence and the students’ biological achievement, 6) the interaction between memoryability and learningindependence and the students’ biologicalachievement, 7) interaction between the learning methods, memorial ability and learning independence toward the student‘s biological achievements. This research used experiment method. The population of the research was the alltenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta. The sample was taken using class random sampling consisted of 2 classes. The experiment class I used guided inquiry method and the experiment class II is modified free inquiry method. The data was collected using test for student’s achievement and memory ability and questionnaire for learning independence. The hypothesis test of research usedthree ways different cell of ANOVA collected by software Minitab 15. The further analysis of ANOVA usedAnalysis of Mean (ANOM). The result of the research shows that: (1) the student’s achievement using guided inquiry method is better than the students’ achievement using modified free inquiry method (2) there is no influence of student’s learning achievement who have lower memorial ability, 3) there is influence of learning achievement of the students having higher learning independence and the students having higher learning independence, 4) there is no interaction between the learning methods and memorial ability towards student’s learning achievement, 5) there is interaction between learning methods and learning independence towards student’s learning achievement, 6) there is no interaction between memorial ability and learning independence towards student’s learning achievement, 7) there is no interaction independence towards student’s learning achievement.
