    Abstract

    The presence of media in the lives of audiences becomes important. Audience can get whatever they want and need through various media that exist. Many new forms of technology in communication are already close to us. Currently, in the wider community most are already using smartphones or gadgets that are connected to the internet. Latest information and news around the world we can access through the smartphone. Indonesia will surpass 100 million smartphone users by 2018. This study aims to determine the effect of social psychology, the motive and the pattern of smartphone use to the satisfaction of smartphone usage among non-regular students of communication sciences 2013-2015 Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Sebelas Maret University. The theory used in this research is uses and gratifications. With a population of 231 people and 70 of them being samples of this study. Data in this study were collected by questionnaire distribution method, then processed and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. Testing significance using t test for first and second hypothesis and F test for the third hypothesis. Based on the results of research, it can be seen that the variables of social psychological factors and motives has the most powerful influence on smartphoe usage satisfaction that is with significant value 0,000 compared with variabel usage pattern of smartphone media which is a significant value of 0,033. Then, if both independent variables are social psychology factor of moyive and pattern of usage of smartphone media combined then the value obtainde is 0,000 to the dependent variable namely the satisfaction of smartphone media usage and of course a positive value. While the coefficient of determination obtained is 0,569 or 56,9%. The value is quite large and the rest of the value is 43,1% influenced by other factors not included in the variables in this study.
