      Abstract

      A study of changes in the intensity of light on the sensor based on the principle of an evanescent wave has been conducted. This research uses Glucose as the object of research. The presence of variations in glucose concentration as a sample causes a change in the intensity of light passing through the optical fiber. The method of this research is to make the area of fiber optic sensing by giving polish treatment along 8cm. Polish is done so that part of the cladding and fiber optic core peeled off. The light output from the sensing area is then analyzed using a spectrometer, which will produce light intensity and wavelength. The analysis used is the comparison of evanescent interaction results between glucose samples with fiber at different wavelengths. Light source used is LED 5 Watt high power various colors. The change in intensity of each wavelength in the spectrometer was compared with the absorbance of glucose sample using the UV-Vis Spectrometer. The results obtained that the best absorbance values of glucose samples are found in red light sources with a wavelength of 613.7 nm. Linear the linearity obtained in the absorbance of the red wavelength is 0.972.
