    Abstract

    ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF POLITICAL CONNECTIONS TO DIVIDEND POLICY By : MUFIDAH F1215035 This research aims to analyze the effect of political connection to dividend policy. This research using three variables. The dependent variable are dividend policy as dividend payout ratio (DPR). The independent variable is political connection measured using dummy variable. Meanwhile, the control variables are size company as size, leverage as debt to equity ratio (DER) and profitability as return on equity (ROE). This research is causal research with quantitative approach. The population of the research include the company listed in Indonesia Stock Exchane on manufacturing companies during 2012-2015 periode. Samples are obtained based on a purposive sampling techniques and acquired 68 companies. This study uses a quantitative approach to the analysis tool using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 23. Based on the analysis of data, political connection has positive effect on dividend policy with a significant value of 0,044. Size of company has positive effect on dividend policy with a significant value of 0,008. Leverage has positive effect on dividend policy with a significant value of 0,000. Profitability has positive effect on dividend policy with a significant value of 0,000. Meanwhile , F test show that the variables of political connection, size of company, leverage and profitability simultaneously effect the dividend policy for the significance less than 0,05. It is 0,000. The adjusted R2 value is 0,221, so the variables political connection, size of company, leverage and profitabilty are able to influence dividend policy by 22,1% and 77,9% is explained by other variables outside the model.
