    Abstract

    Multi Sari Dewi. R11160555. 2017. Relationship between Intensity of Physical Activity and Constipation in Menopausal Women in Post Elderly Sumber Village. Program Diploma IV of Midwife Educator, Faculty of Medical Faculty of Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Background: Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation. In this phase women experience problems related to physical disorders, the tendency of menopausal women is less physical activity that can lead to constipation. Based on preliminary study conducted on 19 menopausal women by interview method, there are still 5 people (26,3%) who suffer from constipation which is less in doing physical activity. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical activity and constipation in menopausal women. Method: This research uses Obsevasional Analytic research design with Case Control approach. The sampling technique used was Simple Random Sampling with 36 sample of case group and 36 control group. Data analysis used is lambda test. Results: The lambda test results between physical activity and constipation showed a result of ρ 0,000 which means ρ <0,05 and r = 0,500. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the intensity of physical activity and constipation in postmenopausal women with moderate correlation and positive direction. If there is an increase in physical activity it also increases the possibility to be free from constipation and vice versa. Keywords: menopause, elderly, physical activity, constipation
