IMPROVING THE UNDERSTANDING OF PROPERTIES OF LIGHT THROUGH SAVI (SOMATIC, AUDITORY, VISUALIZATION, INTELLECTUALY) LEARNING MODEL (Classroom Action Research On Elementary School Grade Students V.2 Mangkubumen Lor No. 15 Surakarta, Academic Year 2016/2017). Minithesis. The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, May 2017. This study aims to improve understanding of light properties through SAVI learning model (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectual) on the students of class V.2 SD Negeri Mangkubumen Lor No.15 Surakarta, Academic year 2016/2017. The form of this research is a classroom action research (PTK) which carried out as much as 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, execution, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study are students of class V.2 SD Negeri Mangkubumen Lor No.15 Surakarta which has 29 students. The data sources were collected from teachers and students. The techniques used are interviews, observation, documentation, and tests. Validity of data used is triangulation of source and triangulation technique. The data analysis used is interactive analysis. The results of this study show the understanding of the properties of light can be increased by using SAVI learning model. This is proved in the initial conditions before the implementation of the action the average of class was 49.83 with the percentage of classical completeness of 20.69%, cycle I the average of class is 73.36 with the percentage of classical completeness of 62.06%, and cycle II the average value of the class is 81.48 with percentage of classical completeness of 82.75%. Based on the data, it can be concluded that the use of SAVI learning model (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectualy) can improve the understanding of the properties of light in students of class V.2 SD Negeri Mangkubumen Lor No.15 Surakarta in academic year 2016/2017.
