    Abstract

This paper aims to examine the models of dependence of the informal workers community, especially on the Porters in Pasar Legi. The Legi market is the largest crop market in the Surakarta City with 2,729 traders and more than 800 personnel of Porters involved in it. This study identifies the economic institute of the Porters Communities at Legi Market which includes the institutional type, kinds and role of stakeholders involved and the interaction of economic institutions in achieving prosperity. The analysis of dependency patterns within the Porters Community is responded through institutional analysis as well as the analysis of the actors. A qualitative approach is used to get an overview of the dependency pattern of the Porters Community. The data was collected by using in-depth interviews with various stakeholders related to the Porters Community, including the representative of the Porters themselves. In addition, this study used field observations for 2 years to find out the general description of the reality approached from the Porters of Legi Market. The results of the research found in the field, the phenomenon emerged in the community of Legi Market Porters in the form of weak regulative element implication, in this case is SPTI Legi Market unit as Labor Union sheltering Porters. SPTI has a strong regulative element to the community but gives negative implications. Ultimately, in order to keep the economic activities of the community in place, the normative and cognitive elements arise from the relation of the Porters and skipper dependence as a community effort to balance the negative-negative implications of the union. In addition, the normative and cognitive elements are sought by the Porters to get facilities they can not get from SPTI as stakeholders on it. The conclusion of this reserch is that Bridging Social Capital formed between SPTI and the Porters Community is binding, but does not provide implications that match the initial goal of a workers federation to the economic activities of the porters in the field.
