    Abstract

Background : Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a serious health problem until today. Many clinical spectrums of dengue virus infection in children, while establish the prognosis of dengue disease is still difficult. It is important to explore the factors that influence the grading of Dengue severity to prevent severe clinical manifestations. The aim of this study was to identified factors that influence the grading of Dengue severity at pediatric patients in RSUD Dr. Moewardi. Methods : an analytic-observational with cross sectional approach was conducted to secondary data that collected from medical records installations in September 2014. Independent variables were gender, age, nutritional status, and blood group, while dependent variable was grading of Dengue severity. Data was analyzed by using Chi-square and logistic regression models and processed with Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) 21.00 for Windows. Result : Normal and over nutritional status increased the risk of severe dengue 3.306 times more than malnutrition status (p = 0.042; OR = 3.306; 95% CI = 1.803-10.091). Gender (p = 0.837; OR = 1.111; CI95% = 0.408-3.025), age (p = 0.123; OR = 0.439; CI95% = 0.152-1.270), and blood group (p = 0.224; OR = 0.331; 95 % = 0.51-2.137) had no significant relationship with the grading of Dengue severity. Logistic regression analysis which entered age, nutritional status, and blood group as an independent factors declared that just nutritional status that independently influenced the grading of Dengue severity. Conclusion : Nutritional status independently influence as a risk factor for severe Dengue.
