    Abstract

    Soybean is an important agriculture commodity with high domestic demand but its productivity relatively low. Soybean productivity needs to be increased to meet the demand. Increased productivity of plants can be done in various ways such as through the application of shallot extract as natural plant growth regulator. This study aims to determine the type and concentration of shallot extract which resulted the best plant growth and yield of soybean. This research was conducted in Sukosari, Jumantono, Karanganyar, with altitude of 180 meters above sea level. The research began in September 2016 until March 2017. The data analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the significant ones analyzed by DMRT with 95% of significant level. The result showed that aplication of shallot extract did not give significant effect to the variables on the vegetative components. Meanwhile, the type of extract source gave significant effect on flowering periode. The fastest flowering periode was resulted by extract of 45 days after planted shallot with 29.1 days. This type of extract source gave significant result in flowering periode compared to extract from dormant shallot and control. There is combination between type of extract source and its concentration which gave significant result on number of pods per plant. Soybean plant applied by 45 days after planted shallot extract with 1.25% of concentration result the highest number of pods per plant. The plant productivity resulted by this treatment was up to 2.18 ton/ha.
