    Abstract

ABSTRACT Dyah Lestari, 2007. IDENTIFYING THE INSTIGATION FACTOR OF YOUNG MARRIAGE BY USING FACTOR ANALYSIS. Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science. Sebelas Maret University. Factor analysis is a data analysis technique used to reduce the number of variables into several smaller groups and the groups are called as factor. The purpose of the research is to identify the instigation factors of young marriage by using factor analysis. The respondents used are 85 persons, namely a man or a woman who have got married in the young age of 15 up to 24 years old in the area of Surakarta. The sampling technique is simple cluster sampling. The respondents are given a questioner. The variables are seventeen, that are the instigation parents, friends, couple, the anxiety of losing couple, the pregnancy before marriage, the artist who marriage in the young age, many films which tell about young age marriage, the fear of sin, the anxiety of being old virgin, the prosperity of the couple, the application of marriage, having completed the study, the desire of parents in having grandchildren, having independent income, many friends who had married, the pairing and helping the economic condition of family. The validity and reliability of data are tested. The factor analysis is done by using software SPSS 10.0 for windows. The validity test result that there are three variables are not valid, that are the pregnancy before marriage, the fear of sin, and having independent income. The reliability coefficient is 0,8190, it means the data is reliable. The artist who marriage in the young age variable has KMO value less than 0,5, then that variable must be excluded from the analysis, so that the rest variables are thirteen. The result of factor analysis of thirteen variables are five factors, that are readiness factor, economic factor, couple factor, association factor, and tradition factor.
