    Abstract

    This study aims to: 1) Determine the spread of drought index in Grobogan based methods SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index); 2) Determine the level of land suitability as a direction site of soybean crops in dry areas Grobogan. 3) Implement the results of this study in the form of learning modules geography class X SMA Highlights Atmosphere. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The study population throughout the region in Grobogan. Samples were taken by using purposive sampling, soil sampling based on the type of soil in Grobogan, informan sampling using accidental sampling. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, laboratory analysis and document analysis. Mechanical analysis of rainfall data with SPI method, land suitability analysis for soybean plants with matching or match the quality and characteristics of the land in Grobogan on condition grow soybeans. The results of this research are: 1) Drought index in Grobogan with SPI method based on rainfall data for 21 years (1994-2014) on 21 rainfall recording station indicates the drought for five months, starting in May and ending in September. The peak of the drought occurred in August, from 21 rainfall stations 14 included 7 categories including dry and very dry category. The highest drought index value of -2.51 also occurs in August. 2) Suitability actual land for soybean crops in Grobogan shows the class is marginally suitable (S3) covering an area of 85024.98 ha or 43.03%, are not appropriate (N1) covering 4792,925 ha or 2:43% and not suitable permanent (N2) covering an area of 1896.49 ha, or 0.96%. By improving the quality of land characteristics to high level management of potential land suitability can achieve Quite appropriate class (S2) covering an area of 85248.10 ha or 43.14%, marginally suitable (S3) covering an area of 3824.37 ha or 1.94% and is not suitable (N1) an area of 2641.92 ha or 1.34 %. 3)Implementation of research Drought Index Distribution with SPI Method in Grobogan as referral soybean plants can be used as a learning module class X Senior High School in material Atmospheric Effect on Life.
