Ratna Prahesti. 2017. “Analysis of factors contributing in anemia incidence of pregnant women in Prambanan Public Health Centre Sleman Yogyakarta. THESIS. Principal Supervisor : Dono Indarto, dr., M.Biotech., PhD. Co-Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar, M.Pd. Master Program in Public Health, Postgraduate of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Anemia is one of global public health problems because of its impact on women and their babies. Pregnant women are one of high risk age groups that suffer anemia. Biopsikosocial factors affect the anemia incidence of pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to analyse factors that correlate with the anemia incidence in pregnant women. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This study used multiple methodology with sequential explanatory strategy. Sampling technique for quantitative study used the consecutive sampling and the criterion sampling for qualitative study. Of 120 women who got pregnant in the second and third trimester became research subjects of quantitative study and 7 women were informants of qualitative study. Data analysis used multiple logistic regression with significant value p<0.05. RESULTS : Gestasion period (OR=0.35;CI 95%= 0.15 to 0.80; p=0.013), education (OR=0.33;CI 95%=1.29 to 6.81;p=0.010), family income (OR=0.43;CI 95%=1.02 to 5.34;p=0.043), and disease history (OR= 0.31; CI 95%= 0.09 sd 1.06;p=0.062) correlated with anemia incidence in pregnant women. Altough pregnant women had iron suplementation, iron intake in all informants was under the recommended dietary allowance. Nutrition education for anemia treatment was incompletely performed by health workers. CONCLUSION: Higher gestasion period, high education, and higher family income increase incidence risk of anemia in pregnant women. Low iron intake is a cause factor of high incidence of anemia in pregnant women. KEYWORD: anemia, pregnant women, iron suplementation, iron intake.
