    Abstract

    This research aims to improve the student’s analysis ability using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) at class X MIPA 3 of Senior High School Al Islam 1 Surakarta. This research used a Classroom Action Research with Kemmis and Mc. Taggartmodelthat was held in two cycles. Each cycle was started with preparation stage and continued implementation stage consisting of planning, action, observing, and reflecting. The research subject was class X MIPA 3 of Senior High School Al Islam 1 Surakarta, which was consist 39 students. The data were collected through test, observation, and document review. The techniques of dataanalysis used was qualitative techniques and supported by quantitative data. Based on the study and data analysis of the research, it can be concluded that the application of Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) approachon physics learning can improve the cognitive process analysis at the class X MIPA 3 SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. It can be seen from the observation cycle I to the cycle II and all indicators have reached the target of success in cycle II. Moreover, It can be seen from the test results of analytical ability from the cycle I to cycle II. The percentage of student’s analysis ability improved from 14% in the cycle I and 83% in cycle II. The result of research shows that the Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) approach could be applied in learning activities if it is supported by a school’s facilities to do learning needs more time and activeness from learners.
