    Abstract

    The aim of this research is to find out pores shape of biocomposite material bovine hydroxyapatite (BHA)/shellac/sugar for bone filler application. BHA powder is gotten with characterization of bovine bone powder with calcinated 900ºC for 2 hours with heat rate 10ºC/min, then shellac coated BHA (liquid of lac secretion) 10 ml. Ratio composition of BHA/shellac and sugar were 30:40, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 %wt using dry method. BHA/shellac/sugar sample were compacted pressed at 60MPa into solid bodies using 13 mm cylindrical and thick 8 mm dies, sintering 900ºC for 2 hours at furnace heat rate 10ºC/min. XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), microvickers, DTS (diametral tensile strength) and SEM (scanning Electron Microschopy). The results were showed XRD difracto intensity 2θ: 31.7425º, 32.8581º, 32.2016º, the highest microvickers BHA/shellac/sugar sample was 7.013 ± 0.454 VHN (70:30) and the lowest was 6.27±0.287 VHN (50:50). The highest DTS BHA/shellac/sugar sample was 2.765±0.6314 MPa (70:30) and the lowest was 0.386±0.667 MPa (50:50). The highest density was 1.952 gr/cm 3 (70:30) and the lowest was 1.664 gr/cm (50:50). SEM observation of BHA/shellac/sugar sampled to find out pores shape. The range porosity was 0.50-0.56%. Key Word : BHA, Pores, XRD, Microvickers, Diametral Tensile Strength, SEM. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui terbentuknya porus dari material biokomposit bovine hydroxyapatite (BHA)/shellac/gula untuk aplikasi bone filler. Serbuk BHA diperoleh dengan karakterisasi serbuk tulang sapi (bovine bone powder) dengan suhu 900ºC selama 2 jam dengan kenaikan 10ºC/menit, kemudian dilapisi shellac (larutan hasil sekresi kutu lak) 10 ml. Variasi perbandingan campuran antara BHA/shellac dan gula yakni 30:40, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 %wt dengan metode kering (dry method). Sampel BHA/shellac/gula dikompaksi pada tekanan 60 MPa sampai menjadi padat dengan cetakan silinder 13 mm dan tebal 8 mm, kalsinasi suhu 900ºC selama 2 jam dengan kenaikan 10ºC/menit. Uji XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), microvickers, DTS (diametral tensile strength) dan SEM (Scanning Electron Microschopy). Hasil pengujian XRD menunjukkan pola difraksi 2θ: 31.7425º, 32.8581º, 32.2016º, pengujian microvickers sampel BHA/shellac/gula tertinggi sebesar 7.013 ± 0.454 VHN (70:30) dan terendah 6.27 ± 0.287 VHN (50:50), pengujian DTS sampel BHA/shellac/gula tertinggi sebesar 2.765 ± 0.6314 MPa (70:30) dan terendah 0.386 ± 0.0667 MPa (50:50). Nilai densitas tertinggi yakni 1.952 gr/cm (70:30) dan nilai densitas terendah yakni 1.664 gr/cm3 (50:50). Pengamatan SEM dilakukan terhadap sampel BHA/shellac/gula untuk mengamati bentuk porus. Besanya porositas yakni 0.50-0.56%. Kata Kunci : BHA, Porus, XRD, Microvickers, Diametral Tensile Strength, SEM.
