    Abstract

    ABSTRACTS The Use of YouTube and Information Needs Fulfillment Level (Study Correlative of The Use of YouTube Channel Dara Nitya on Information Needs Fulfillment Level about Tutorial Make Up Among Subscribers Channel Dara Nitya) Thesis, Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Politics, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, 2016. This study is intended to find out the correlation between Youtube utilization and the fulfillment of information necessity level by using Uses and Gratification approach. Youtube is the biggest website to share video built on February 2005 which grants the Youtube users to easily upload, watch, and share the video. In this study, the Youtube users are assumed to be the active participants in deciding media that can fulfill their needs. The precise theory for this research is Uses and Gratification theory, where in this theory, netizen are assumed to be active in choosing media for their own needs. While the research method conducts in this study is survey method by conducting a questionnaire as a tool to obtain the data. The population in this study is the subscribers on Dara Nitya channel, thus random sampling technique is applied in determining the sample. Data analysis technique applied to this study is Spearman’s rank correlation to determine the correlation between the independent variable with the dependent variable. SPSS 16.0 for Windows application is used to quantify the data analysis. According to the data, it is found out that there is a significant correlation between Youtube users and the fulfillment of information necessity level which has 0.833 of correlation number, while the significance level has reached 0.05 and the needs for technology which also have the correlation by showing 0.341 of correlation number. Thus, it can be concluded that Dara Nitya Youtube channel is capable to meet the needs of information on make-up tutorial among Dara Nitya channel subscribers.
