    Harisyah Nasution. K2512040. THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF BRAKE CANVAS COMPOSITE BASED ON CORNCOBS POWDER MATERIAL APPLIED IN YAMAHA JUPITER Z MOTORCYCLE. Thesis, Surakarta : Faculty of Education and Teacher Training Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, Desember 2016. The aims of this study are (1) To know the wear rate of corncob powder brake canvas when was applied directly in the motorcycle, (2) To compare the wear rate between the corncobs powder brake canvas and Indoparts brand brake canvas, and (3) To estimate the lifetime of corncob powder brake canvas when was applied directly in the motorcycle. This study was used the experiment method, and the data was analyzed by using the descriptive analysis. The wear rate of corncobs powder brake canvas was tested by using road test. The population of this study is brake canvas composite with the material composition of corncobs powder, brass powder (Cu-Zn), magnesium oxide (MgO), with epoxy resin matrix constituent. The sample of this study is brake canvas composite with the material composition of 30% corncobs powder, 30% brass powder (Cu-Zn), 20% magnesium oxide (MgO) with 20% matrix constituent in the form of epoxy resin. The comparison of brake canvas material was measured based on the mass ratio. The results of this study shows that 1) The wear rate of brake canvas with the material composition of 30% corncobs powder, 30% brass, 20% magnesium oxide, and 20% epoxy resin is 0,00043 mm/km, 2) The wear rate of brake canvas based on the corn cobs powder material lower than Indoparts brake canvas, 3) The lifetime estimation of corncob powder brake canvas is 10.465 km or equal to the 104.650 times of braking. The comparison of lifetimes estimation shows that the brake canvas based on corncobs powder longer than Indoparts. Keywords: composite, corncob powder brake, the wear rate
