THE EFFECTIVENESS OF REMEDIAL TEACHING IN IMPROVING READING ABILITY OF EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL DISORDER STUDENTS IN GRADE III AND IV OF SLB E BHINA PUTERA SURAKARTA 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR. Skripsi, Surakarta : Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, July 2016. This research aims to know the effectiveness of remedial teaching in improving reading ability of Emotional and Behavioral Disorder Students In Grade III and IV of SLB E Bhina Putera Surakarta 2015/2016 academic year. This research used quantitative approach with experimental research type. The approach of experimental research used Single Subject Research (SSR) with A-B-A (Baseline1-Intervention-Baseline2) design. The subjects of this research were two students with emotional and behavioral disorder. Each of them was 3rd grade and 4th grade students of SLB E Bhina Putera Surakarta 2015/2016 academic year who have lack of early reading ability. Data were collected by interview, reading test, and documentation, and analyzed by descriptive statistics and presented through tables and graphs. Furthermore, the components were analyzed by an analysis of the condition. The result showed the improvement of early reading ability’s scores of both subjects. The average score of subject AR at phase A-1 was 16. Then, increased into 50 at phase B (increased 34 points from phase A-1). In the end, at phase A-2 the average score of subject AR increased into 80 (increased 64 points from phase A-1, and increased 30 points from phase B). Meanwhile, the a average score of subject AR at phase A-1 was 35. Then, increased into 44.5 at phase B (increased 9.5 points from phase A-1). In the end, it has increased again into 60 (increased 25 points from phase A-1, and increased 15.5 points from phase B). There were ascents in reading ability’s scores of both subjects. Based of that fact, it can be concluded that remedial teaching was effective in improving reading ability of students with emotional and behavioral disorder.
