    PENINGKATAN KUANTITAS DAN KUALITAS PERTANYAAN MELALUI PENERAPAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING DISERTAI MODIFIKASI DIALOG SOCRATES SISWA KELAS XI MIA 2 SMA NEGERI 8 SURAKARTA PADA TAHUN PELAJARAN 2015/2016 THE APPLICATION OF DISCOVERY LEARNING WITH SOCRATIC DIALOGUE MODIFICATION TO IMPROVING QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF QUESTION IN THE ELEVENTH GRADE 2 SCIENCE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 8 SURAKARTA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2015/ 2016 Linnasif Sari Dewi, Yudi Rinanto, Suciati Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta linnasifsaridewi@yahoo.com Abstract: This research aims to improve the quantity and quality of question of the eleventh grade 2 Science students of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta in the academic year of 2015/ 2016 through Discovery Learning with Socratic Dialogue modification application. This research was a classroom action research which consisted of two Cycles. Each Cycle contained planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subject was the eleventh grade 2 Science students of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta in the academic year of 2015/ 2016. The data were taken from the questions covering the quantity and quality of the question. The techniques of data collection in this research used observation, interview, and documentation. Data analyzing technique was descriptive qualitative. The research procedure used intertwined spiral model, contained planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the research shows that application of Discovery Learning with Socratic Dialogue modification improved the quantity and quality of students question. Quantity and quality of question improvement from Pre-Cycle to the second Cycle. Quantity of the questions in the first Cycle was 67 questions and the second Cycle was 71 questions. Quality of the questions in the first Cycle was 62,5 % and the second Cycle was 75 %. Based on the result of the research it can be concluded that the application of Discovery Learning with Socratic Dialogue modification can improve the quantity and quality of question of the eleventh grade 2 Science students of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta in the academic year of 2015/ 2016.
