    Abstract

    The development of modern energy-efficient electrical devices will provide the great potential in the development of small-scale power generation. Indonesia has a tropical climate characterized by heavy rainfall and high water consumption in high-rise buildings that could be used as alternative source energy. In the future, development of high-rise buildings like the apartments, hotels, malls and civil residences has development capacities for pico-scale electricity generation system. This research will develop nano or pico-scale turbines could be installed in building exhaust for running down the wasted water storey building. This research has conducted in several phases of experimental testing, the first stage by using different number of blades 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12. The best results in first phase optimum in number of blades 3. The second phase by varying the blade curvature angle between 100° to 140°, the high-yielding cultivars is 140°. The third phase by varying the depth to width ratio of turbine from 0.06 to 0.09, and the maximum result obtainable at depth to width ratio 0.29. Then the fourth stage by combining the three previous stages, with the best results obtained in the variation number of three blades rotor and has the angle of blade curvature 140°. The best results can be effective and reliable Pico hydro power plants on the installation of piping systems.
