    Abstract

    Mahardika Intan Rahmawati. 2016. Developing Economic Learning Module by Using Project Based Learning to Improve the Students’ Learning Outcomes of X IPS at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in the Academic Year 2016/2017. THESIS. Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Trisno Martono, M.M. Co Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Yunastiti Purwaningsih, M.P. Master of Economic Education Study Program, Faculty of Teaching and Science of Education, Sebelas Maret University. ABSTRACT This research aims to: 1) analize the development of the economic learning module using project based learning for improving students’ learning outcomes of X IPS at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in the academic year 2016/2017, 2) analize the use of the economic learning module using project based learning in improving the students’ learning outcomes of X IPS at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 in the academic year 2016/2017. This research used the modification of Borg and Gall procedures; there are 8 steps, namely: 1) research and information collecting, 2) planning, 3) develop preliminary form a product, 4) preliminary field testing, 5) operational product revision, 6) main field testing, 7) main product revision, 8) operating testing. The data analysis that were used in this research: descriptive analysis, appropriateness analysis of the module based on the score criteria, and analysis of students’ learning result using t test. Based on the descriptive analysis of the module using project based learning, it can be concluded that the validation from the experts in the materials was 81.85% with very good criteria; the validation from the experts in media was 80.77% with good criteria; the validation from the experts in the language was 96.15% with very good criteria; and the validation from the experts in the practicality was 77.61% with good criteria. The analysis of hypothesis used IBM SPSS 21 software with t test formula and the result of t count from the post test of the controlled and experimental group was 5.237 with t table 1.987; t count > t table means that the improvement of the experimental class was better than the controlled class. The significance value was 0.000<α (0,05), means that H1could be accepted and the outcomes of students’ learning in the experimental class was better than the controlled class. It shows that the economic learning module from the development is much better in improving the students’ learning outcomes than without using the module using the project based learning. It can be concluded that the economic learning module using project based learning are appropriate to be used in class and it can be used to improve the students’ learning outcomes.
