Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Sebelas Maret University. 2016. Gender mainstreaming in education is important because education is the most strategic sector to promote gender equality. Human resources become a key component to successful integration of gender perspective in educational policy. The persistence of gender bias in school environment contained in teaching materials and treatment of teachers to students indicate the important gender perspective in the school environment mainly related gender sensitivity of teachers. This study aims to determine gender sensitivity of teachers in Junior High School 1 of Surakarta and determine the factors that influence it. The method used is mixed method (quantitative-qualitative) data collection techniques such as quesioner, interviews, documentation, and observation. Responden determining technique by total sampling and informant determining technique by purposive. Test the validity of the quantitative data using point biserial correlation and test of reliability using KR-20, data analysis using inferential analysis. The validity of qualitative data using triangulation sources, while data analysis using interactive data analysis. The results showed that gender sensitivity of teachers in Junior High School 1 of Surakarta being in the category of medium. The factors that influence it are culture and gender sensitivity training.
