    Abstract

    Acrylic acid plant is designed with a capacity of 30,000 tons / year, using raw materials of propylene, air and steam with a composition ratio of propylene : air : steam is 5 : 55 : 40 (mol%). 96% propylene required is 20,867.559 tonnes / year, with the specific needs of 0.696 tonnes / ton of product which is purchased from PT Pertamina Balongan, while the specific needs of steam is 2.67 tonnes / ton of product and the specific needs of air is 5.23 tonnes / ton of product. By products produced in the form of 3.5% acetic acid solution is 3.078 tonnes / ton of product and excess air is 4.52 tonnes / ton of product. The plant is planned to be built in Balongan Regency, West Java Province in 2018, and will be operating by 2020. Acrylic acid is manufactured by oxidation of propylene at the temperature of 250 oC - 330 oC and pressure of 4.4 atm in a fixed bed multitube reactor with non-adiabatic non isothermal conditions with a catalyst of bismuth molybdate (Bi2 (MoO4)3). The reaction that occurs is exothermic, so as to maintain the temperature, dowterm A is streamed to the shell as coolant. Conversion of propylene into acrylic acid of 97%. Reactor product is cooled in partial condenser to separate acrylic acid from propylene and air. Bottom product of partial condenser is then separated in the distillation column to separate acrylic acid from water and acetic acid. A supporting unit consisting of procurement unit of water which is taken from Cimanuk river for about 10.934 m3 / ton of product, procurement unit of steam for about 8.077 tons / ton of product, the procurement unit of electricity for about 581.876 kWh / ton of product, the procurement unit of compressed air (P = 4.05 bar, T = 321.15 K) for about 13.2 m3 / ton of product, the procurement unit of IDO fuel for about 741.7 L / ton of product. The plant is also equipped with laboratories to maintain product quality to match the desired specifications. The company management is a Limited Liability Company (Perseroan Terbatas), with line and staff organizational structure. Employees working systems is based on the division of employee working hours consisting of 60 shift employees and 64 non-shift employees. The selling price of acrylic acid is Rp 26,575, - / kg product and price of propylene is Rp 6,474, - / kg product. Economic analysis shows that Percent Return on Investment (ROI) before taxes is 83.06% and 62.30% after taxes, Pay Out Time (POT) before taxes is 1.07 years, 1.38 years after taxes, Break Even Point (BEP) is 41.84%, Shut Down Point (SDP) is 32.74% and the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) is 28.84%. From the results of the economic analysis, we can conclude that the acrylic acid plant with a capacity of 30,000 tons / year is worthy established.
