    ABSTRACT BUDI SUPRATININGSIH. C0512013. 2016. Protest of Factory Employees in Purworejo 1919-1926. Thesis: History Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University. The study discussion was about occurrence of employee protest which is focused to factory employees in Purworejo 1919-1926. The purpose of this research is to get an overview of : (1) background of employee protest occurrence in Purworejo 1919-1926. (2) leadership and ideology that was urged employee protest occurred in Purworejo 1919-1926. (3) action that occurred by group employee in factory employee protest in Purworejo 1919-1926. The methods of study discussion used history methods such as heuristic (collecting resources), resources criticism (internal and external criticism), writer interpretation and historiography. The resources which uses to the research areofficial documents issued by the Dutch colonial government such as Memorie van Overgave (memory transfer of positions) residences of Kedu, Banyumas, and Bagelan. The others resource are contemporary newspapers such as Soeara Kaoem Boeroeh, previous studies, articles and reference books. Based on data analysis, the study discussion can be concluded that the occurrence of the employees protest is a form of Indonesia employee consciousness to defend their due and resist the action of the boss which is considered extremely harmful to the employees. The action has been supported by political organizations such as Sarekat Islam and PKI. Along with the influences which give the organizations and political parties, the ideology can live because the action of employees protest and the ideology could bring the employees protest to have same purpose. Communism became ideology which would took effect the employees’ movement in Purworejo. The result is the action of employees protest occurred some of the demands such as services, wage, and dismissal opposes employees demands. However, the protest cannot achieve success as desired. The employee action was failed caused by the Dutch Colonial gouvernement could handle the action of employee even even with applied 161 bis rules and action of arrested the employees who still striked and protested.
