    Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF TEACHING GAMES FOR UNDERSTANDING LEARNING MODEL TO UPPER PASSING VOLLEY BALL LEARNING RESULT IN STUDENTS OF XI RPL AND AP SMK MURNI 2 SURAKARTA ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2015/2016. Thesis, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of SebelasMaret University. April 2016. The aim of this research was to discover the effectiveness of Teaching Games For Understanding learning model in volley ball and to compare Teaching Games For Understanding and conventional approach learning model in improving upper passing volley ball skill of students of XI RPL and AP SMK Murni 2 Surakarta academic year of 2015/2016. The research was a quasi-experimental research, using pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. Subjects were 28 students of XI RPL and AP SMK Murni 2 Surakarta. Those were divided into two groups, 15 students as control group and 13 students as experimental group. Data were collected using tactical decision making test and assessing game performance using Game Performance Assessment Instrument ( GPAI ) and observation sheet. The result of this research showed as follows : ( 1 ) effectiveness of Teaching Games For Understanding learning model in improving upper passing volley ball skill based on the analysis of posttest score comparison. Students within the categories of very good, good and average passed the test. In experimental group, there were 2 students belonged to very good category, 5 students belonged to good category, 6 students belonged to average, and no one belonged to low category. In control group, there were 3 students belonged to good category, 11 students belonged to average category, and 1 student belonged to low category. ( 2 ) Based on the product, descriptive statistical analysis showed the experimental group which was given Teaching Games For Understanding learning model had pretest mean of 74,15 and improved to 80,62 in posttest. In control group which was given conventional learning and pretest 73,33 and improved to 76,73 in posttest. Based on similarity test, there were 2 different but equal models of linear regression. Thus, it could be concluded that there was difference of effectivieness between Teaching Games For Understanding and conventional approach learning model in improving upper passing volley ball skill. Coefficient of regression in experimental group was 1,245 and coefficient of regression in control group was 1,075. Geometrically, regression line of experimental group was above the regression line of control group. This showed that students had better upper passing volley ball skill with Teaching Games For Understanding learning model than conventional approach learning model.
