      Abstract

      ABSTRACT Muhammad Rolan Dumas. K2512052.EXPERIMENT INVESTIGATION OF USING NON ASBESTOS BRAKE LINING TOWARDS WEATHERING RATE OF YAMAHA JUPITER Z MOTORCYCLE.Skripsi, Surakarta: Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, August 2016. This Study aims to investigate weathering rate of Indoparts brake lining and Yamaha Genuine Parts brake lining if its are directly applied into motorcycle. Populations on this study were Indoparts brake lining and Yamaha Genuine Parts brake lining. Sample which was used was Indoparts brake lining and Yamaha Genuine Parts brake lining. Sample getting technique usedrandom sampling methods. This study used experiments methods. Analysis technique used comparative descriptive that it means describing the collected data as just where they are. Study’s results shows that: (1) Indoparts brake lining and Yamaha Genuine Parts brake lining have different resistance againts weathering but Indoparts brake lining is capable to approach weathering rate of Yamaha Genuine Parts with maximum weathering rate of Indoparts brake lining that is 0.00049 mm/km, meanwhile maximum weathering rate of Yamaha Genuine Parts is is 0.00035 mm/km; 2) Indoparts brake lining is capable to use around 9183-10000 km, meanwhile Yamaha Genuine Parts is capable to use around 12857-13000 km based on the test road which is held by researcher with passanger which has Indonesian adult’s weight rate that is 65-75 kg. Material’s quality, composition and different price between Indoparts brake lining and Yamaha Genuine Parts is also influential againts weathering rate.In a economical manner, Indopartsbrake lining is better because it has cheapest cost with almost adequate quality, but technically Yamaha Genuine Parts brake lining is better because its weathering rate is lower thanIndoparts brake lining; 3) There is found an effect between distance and the number of braking towards Yamaha Jupiter Z brake lining’s weathering rate Keywords: motorcycle, non asbestos brake lining, weathering rate.
