    ABSTRACT HANAN RANANTA ARBI, Student Number D0412021, research title European Union Reaction Towards Islamophobia Tragedy in France in 2011-2015. International Relations Department, Faculty of Social Science and Politics, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Islamophobia is an excessive feeling of fear towards Muslims. This tendency has been emerged in the Europe for a long term of period which then trigger the emergence of discrimination toward Muslim community that lived in that region. Although the contact between European and Islam civilization has been occur even before the appearing of nation-state concept, yet this situation is not capable to prevent the different treatment to the Muslim imigrant in almost every sector. This Islamophobia was becoming obvious after the bombing incident that destroy the World Trade Center Buliding in 2001. The radical incident which behalf in the name of Islam then increase the abusive activity both physically and verbally towards Muslim. European Union as the regional institution, by all means, its policy is being influenced by the political situation in the member states. The emerging of Islamophobia in the member states, especially in France pushed the European Union to create policy alike. This paper will give explanation regarding response of European Union towards Islamophobia and the influence of this negative stereotype to the Muslim community.
