    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Anita Silvia Damayanti. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING CARD SORT AND LEARNING START WITH A QUESTION LEARNING METHOD TO THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF MARINE WATERS MATERIAL AND ITS POTENTIAL VIEWED FROM STUDENTS CREATIVE THINKING SKILLS OF CLASS X IN SMA 1 BAE KUDUS IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2015/2016. Thesis. The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Sebelas Maret University. Augustus 2016. The aims of this research are (1) to know the influence of Card Sort and Learning Start with a Question learning method to the students’ learning outcomes, (2) to know the influence of creative thinking skill to the students’ learning outcomes, (3) to know whether there is an interaction between using learning method viewed from creative thinking skill to the students’ learning outcomes. This research used quasi experimental research and the design was Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population of this research was all classes in grade X of SMA 1 Bae Kudus in the academic year of 2015/2016. Cluster Random Sampling technique was used in this research. By using this technique, it was obtained that class X social 2 as experiment class and class X social 3 as control class. Data collection technique of cognitive learning outcomes of learners used objective test in the form of multiple choice and questionnaire for students’ creative thinking skill. Data analysis technique which is used in this research was descriptive statistics and parametric statistics. To test the hypothesis, it was used Two-way Anova and continued with Pasca Anova (Scheffe’ method) with significance standard of 5%. The result of this research showed that: (1) there is an influence of using Card Sort and Learning Start with a Question learning method to the cognitive learning outcomes of learners. (2) There is an influence of students’ creative thinking skill to the cognitive learning outcomes of learners. (3) There is no interaction between the use of learning method and students’ creative thinking skill to cognitive ability of learners. The result of this research are the application of Card Sort learning method is better used in marine waters material and its potential and the ability of students’ creative thinking affect the students’ learning outcomes.
