    Abstract

    The objectives of this research were to investigate: (1) which learning model of the Make a Match, TPS, and direct learning models results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics; (2) which learning activity of the low, moderate, and high learning activities results in a better learning in Mathematics; (3) in each learning model, which learning activity of the low, moderate, and high learning activities results in a better learning in Mathematics; and (4) in each learning activity, which learning model of the Make a Match, TPS, and direct learning models results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics. This research used the quasi experimental research method with the factorial design of 3×3. The population of research was all of the 10th graders of Public Senior High Schools in Bintan Regency in the school year of 2015/2016. The samples of research were determined by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. They consisted of 309 students, namely: 103 in Experimental Class 1; 102 students in Experimental Class 2; and 104 in Control Class. The data of research were collected through questionnaire of learning activity and test of learning achievement. The technique of analyzing the data use two-ways ANOVA with unbalanced cells. The results of research are as follow: 1) The Make a Match learning model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the TPS learning model and the direct learning model, and the TPS learning model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the direct learning model. 2) The learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high learning activity is better than that of the students with the moderate learning activity and that of the students with the low learning activity, and the learning achievement Mathematics of the students with the moderate learning activity is better than that of the students with the low learning activity. 3) In the Make a Match learning model, the students with the high learning activity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the moderate and low learning activities, and the students with the moderate learning activity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the low learning activity; in the TPS learning model, the students with the high learning activity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the moderate and low learning activities, and the students with the moderate learning activity have the same learning achievement in Mathematics as those with the low learning activity; and in the direct learning model, the students with the high learning activity have the same learning achievement in Mathematics as those with the moderate learning activity, and the students with the high and moderate learning activities have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the low learning activity. 4) In the high learning activity, the Make a Match learning model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the TPS learning model; the TPS learning model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the direct learning model, and the Make a Match learning model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the direct learning model; in the moderate learning activity, the Make a Match learning model results in the same learning achievement in Mathematics as the TPS learning model and the direct learning model; and in the low learning activity, the Make a Match learning model, the TPS learning model, and the direct learning model result in the same learning achievement in Mathematics.
