    Abstract

    ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY TEST OF SNEDDS (Self- nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems) PRODUCT OF BAY LEAF (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp) EXTRACTED WITH CHLOROFORM USING PKO (Palm KernelOil) AS THE OIL PHASE PRATIKA NURUL ISTIQOMAH Jurusan D3 Farmasi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Sebelas Maret ABSTRAK The prevalence of cancer patients is increasing the cause is free radicals, it brought a lot of research on antioxidants, because the reactivity of free radicals can be inhibited by antioxidants. One of the plants which can produce antioxidants is the bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp). The secondary metabolites contents of bay leaf are essential oils, tannins, flavonoids and eugenol which has a functions as an antioxidant and antifungal. This research was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of chloroform extract of bay leaf and preparations SNEDDS of bay leaf extracted with chloroform using PKO as the oil phase. The method used was DPPH method by using spectrophotometry UV-VIS. DPPH is a stable free radical at room temperature and is often used to assess the antioxidant activity of some compounds or extracts of natural ingredients. SNEDDS product of bay leaf extract has powerful antioxidant potential, this can be seen from the value of IC50 amounted to 40,7177 ppm. Antioxidant power of SNEDDS product of bay leaf extract with PKO as the oil phase still has a lower potential than the extract of bay leaf (IC50 = 36,6169 ppm) and Vitamin C as a positive control (IC50= 2,1916 ppm).
