THE USE OF BRAINSTORMING METHOD TO IMPROVE PANTUN WRITING SKILLS ON THE FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OF NUR HIDAYAH SURAKARTA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2015/2016. Skripsi, Surakarta Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, August 2016. The purpose of the research was to improve pantun writing skills by using Brainstorming method on the fourth grade students of the Elementary School of Nur Hidayah Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. The type of the research was Classroom Action Reasearh (CAR) which was carried out in three cycles. Every cycle consists planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were the teacher and the students of the fourth grade of the Elementary School of Nur Hidayah Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. The sources of the data research were teacher, students, learning process, and documents. The data collecting techniques were observation, interview, documentation, and test. The data validity technique were the triangulation of resource and the triangulation of technique. The data analysis technique was interactive analysis data. It consists of three components namely data reduction, data serving, and taking conclusion. The result of the research showed that in precycle the average score of the pantun writing skills was 66,5 with the class completeness was 22 % students could reach the minimal achievement criteria score (≥ 75). In the first cycle, the class average score of the pantun writing skills was 71,78 with the class completeness was 35,13%. In the second cycle, the class average score of the pantun writing skills skill was 77,65 with the class completeness was 67,56 %. In the third cycle, the class average score of the pantun writing skills was 82,65 with the class completeness was 94,59 %. The conclusion of the research was the pantun writing skills could be improved by using Brainstorming method on the fourth grade students of the Elementary School of Nur Hidayah Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016.
