    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Diah Rosawati F., NIM: I 0302509. AN ANALYSIS OF WOMAN WORKING POSTURE WITH BIOMECHANICS AND RULA APPROACH IN THE REDESIGN FILLING STATION TABLE FOR GALLON 19L. Script. Surakarta: Industrial Engineering Department of Sebelas Maret University, January 2007. One of simple activity in production department is moving material with manual handling. Manual material handling repetition can be dangerous for worker especially for woman. Unaided moving objects often combined with twisting and awkward postures have strong contribution to musculoskeletal disorders. Tirta Alam Tunggon is a company which is still used manual material handling in production department. In production department, an operator must lift gallon 19L from the table 70 cm of high. In this time, the table is not appropriate with human body dimensions so the table is not yet able to accommodate the operator requirements and needs. For that, needed redesign the table of filling station with analysis of how far force, torque, working posture and energy expenditure that happened at operator when lifting gallon 19L in filling station. Matter studied in this research is force and torque at human body, working posture of operators and also energy expenditure of an operator when lifting gallon 19L from the table. From data processing known that energy expenditure released by an operator for lifting gallon 19L still very big that is equal to 4.597 kkal/min. Compare with working classification, this activities can be categories into hardworking with heavy workload. For that, redesign table of filling station is needed by adding 8 cm of high and sliding to the next station. This redesign can reduce the activity of lifting gallon 19L in filling station. Data processing of force and torque show degradation from 2235.38 N to 1912.3 N of force and 100.6 Nm to 17.22 Nm of torque. Working posture evaluation shown that operator working posture with the new table is acceptable. It means that the operator is working with the best posture with no risk of injury from their work posture. Working posture evaluation approach can be used to estimate energy expenditure released by an operator. The energy expenditure is for about 720 up to 2400 kkal/min which can be categories into light workload. This research expect redesign filling station table will be more can accommodate the dimension and importance of woman operator so the risks of work related musculoskeletal and workload can be reduced.
