    Abstract

ABSTRACT AyuNindyaAtiekasari, R0212008, 2016. The Correlation of Carbon Monoxide (CO) in the Blood with the Vital Capacity the Culinary Traders in front of PGS Surakarta, Diploma 4 Occupational Safety and Health, Medical Faculty, SebelasMaretUniversity. Background : Carbon monoxide (CO) is a harmful gas from combustion imperfect results, mostly coming from the exhaust gas of a motorcycle vehicle. When CO bounded to blood forming COHb, can cause the onset oh hypoxia that resuled in lowering vital capacity. This research aims to know the correlation of carbon monoxide (CO) in the blood with the vital capacity the culinary traders in front of PGS Surakarta. Method :This research is AnaliticalObservasional using Cross Sectional approach by using38 culinary traders women as sample of research. The sampling used is Simple Random Sampling.Data collection is done by measuring the levels of COHb using Spectrophotometer and measuring vital capacity using Spirometer. This research’s analysis usesnon-parametric Spearman to test the corellation between the levels of CO in the blood and vital capacity. Result :The result of the statistic test on the levels of CO in the blood with vital capacity shows the R value = 0,489 and the significant value is p = 0,002. Conclusion :There is a significant correlation betweencarbon monoxide (CO) in the blood with the vital capacity the culinary traders in front of PGS Surakarta. Keywords : CO, COHb, vital capacity, and culinary traders.
