## Abstract

Fadillah Ridha Apriliani. EXPERIMENTATION OF MATHEMATICS LEARNING USING COOPERATIVE MODEL OF TPS (THINK PAIR SHARE) AND TGT (TEAM GAMES TOURNAMENT) TYPES IN THE TOPIC OF TANGENT LINE OF CIRCLE AT EDUCATIONAL UNIT LEVEL CURRICULUM VIEWED FROM STUDENT’S ANXIETY IN LEARNING MATHEMATICS FOR THE EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 1 EROMOKO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2015/2016. Thesis, Surakarta : Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, July 2016. This research is aimed at investigating: (1) which cooperative learning model of TPS. TGT, or direct instruction gives better learning achievement; (2) which students has better Mathematic learning achievement among those having high, medium, or low level of anxiety in learning mathematics; (3) in each cooperative learning of TPS, TGT and direct instruction, which one gives better mathematics learning achievement for students having high, medium, and low level of anxiety in learning mathematics; (4) in each level of anxiety in learning mathematics, which one gives better mathematics achievement by the use of cooperative learning model of TPS, TGT, or direct instruction. This research belongs to a quasi-experimental research using 3 x 3 factorial design. The population of the research is all students of Eight Grade of SMP Negeri 1 Eromoko in the academic year of 2015/2016. The sample of the research includes 94 students consisting of 30 students using TPS, 30 students using TGT, and 34 students using direct instruction. The instruments of data collection are the test of mathematics learning achievement and the questionnaire of mathematics learning anxiety. Before the instruments were used to collect data, they were firstly tried-out. The content validity of the instrument was scored by the validator. The discrimination power of the test and the consistency of the internal questionnaire were calculated using Karl Pearson correlation product moment formula. The reliability of tests and questionnaire is calculated using Cronbach Alpha. The equilibrium test was calculated using one-way Anava, with α = 0,05 thereby it could be concluded the population of TPS, TGT, and direct instruction are balance. The prerequisite test included normality one using Liliefors test and homogeneity test using Bartlett method. With α = 0,05 it could be concluded that the sample derived from the homogeneous and normally distributed population. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded : (1) the cooperative learning model of TPS produces the same mathematics achievement as direct instruction model, meanwhile cooperative learning model of TGT produce mathematics learning achievement better than the TPS and direct instruction; (2) the students who have high, medium, and low level of anxiety in learning mathematics have the same learning achievement; (3) in each learning model students with high, medium, and low anxiety in learning mathematics have the same learning achievement; (4) the anxiety in learning mathematics of each, TPS model produce the same mathematic learning achievement as direct instruction model, meanwhile TGT model produce mathematics learning achievement better than direct instruction. Keywords : TPS, TGT, Anxiety in Learning Mathematics, Tangent Line of Circle
