    Abstract

    This research aims to improving the thinking creativity and the learning achievment of the students in Grade XI of State Vocational High School 2 of Surakarta in the subject matter of Electrical Systems through the use of the Problem Based Learning Model. This research used the Classroom Action Research with three cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjectsof research were the students as many as 32 in Grade XI of TKRD of State Vocational High School 2 of Surakarta. The data sources of research were a teacher and students. The data of research were collected through in-depth interview, observation, documentation, and test and validated by using the content and dialog. The data analysis was carried out using qualitative and comparative descriptive The results of this research show the application of the model problem based learning can improve the students’ thinking creativity. Prior to the treatment, the percentage of the students’ thinking creativityis 71,76%. Following the treatment, it becomes 77,78% in Cycle I and 84,04% in Cycle II respectively. The indicators of thinking creativity include fluency, flexibility, elaboration, sensitivity, originality, novelty, and use of new approachuse. The application of the model problem based learnig canimprove the students’ learning achievment. Prior to the treatment, the percentage of the students’ learning result is 68,26%. Following the treatment, it becomes 72,40% in Cycle I and 82,55% in Cycle II respectively.
