    Abstract

    Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB) is one of the most important disease of rice caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. Planting resistant varieties is effective and efficient control of BLB. This study was aimed to find out the resistance of local rice varieties to BLB. There are 9 local rice varieties and 2 varieties as control, IR64 and Inpari 13. This study was conducted in the paddy field in Karanglo, Polanharjo, Klaten, Central Java, on November 2015 to February 2016. The results showed that the local rice varieties had better resistance to BLB than control. Based on the resistance to BLB refers to the SES IRRI (2013), the local rice varieties are classified into the category of Moderate and Moderately Susceptible. Category of Moderate consists of Pandan Wangi, Mentik Wangi, Rojolele, BMK, and Mentik Susu. Category of Moderately Susceptible consists of Segreng Wonogiri, Padi Hitam, Srikiti, and Rojopusur.
