    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Miftahus Sibyan. THE APPLICATION OF QUANTUM TEACHING MODEL USING MULTIMEDIA TO IMPROVE SOCIAL SCIENCE LEARNING OUTCOMES ABOUT NOTABLE FIGURES IN INDONESIAN INDEPENDENCE FOR THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SD NEGERI 1 BUMIREJO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2015/2016. Thesis, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta, May 2016. The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe the steps on the application of Quantum Teaching model using multimedia to improve social science learning outcomes about notable figures in Indonesian independence, (2) to improve social science learning through the application of Quantum Teaching model using multimedia about notable figures in Indonesian independence for the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Bumirejo in the academic year of 2015/2016, and (3) to describe problems and solutions the application of Quantum Teaching model using multimedia to improve social science learning outcomes about notable figures in Indonesian independence for the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Bumirejo in the academic year of 2015/2016. This research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted within three cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects of the research were 37 students (16 boys and 21 girls) of the fifth grade of SD Negeri 1 Bumirejo. Sources of data were derived from students, teacher, and observer. Techniques of collecting data were test, observation, and interview. Validity of data in this research was analyzed using triangulation of sources and triangulation of technique. The results of this research showed that: (1) the steps of the application of Quantum Teachingmodel in social science learning, namely: (a) encouraging, (b) experiencing, (c) naming, (d) demonstrating, (e) repeating, and (f) celebrating; (2) the application of Quantum Teaching model using multimedia can improve social science learning for the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Bumirejo in the academic year of 2015/2016. It was proven by the increase of number of students reached learning mastery in the first cycle 70.3%, in the second cycle 78.4%, and in the third cycle 96%; and (3) the problems encountered in the learning, namely: the limited teaching aids for the implementation of learning, the teacher utilizes the time not maximally, there are students who are not serious and less enthusiastic in learning. Solutions for these problems are: have coordination with other teachers in using teaching aids, utilizing of time well, the teacher gives advice and motivation to the students. The conclusion of this research is the application of Quantum Teaching model using multimedia, conducted appropriately, can improve social science learning for the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Bumirejo in the academic year of 2015/2016.
