    Abstract

    The purpose of this study were (1) to assess the level of technical and allocative efficiency of hotels in Tawangmangu tourist areas in Karanganyar District, (2) to examine its Tawangmangu tourist hotels in the most efficient and (3) to determine factors causing the efficiency of hotels in Tawangmangu tourism areas and solutions to achieve efficiencies. The research uses analysis of primary data obtained from the manager of the hotel. This study uses a survey method with the hotels in the Tawangmangu tourism area as the unit of analysis. Data collection techniques in this study is the observation and documentation. Search data is done primarily on a variety of sources or agencies associated with this research. Analysis tools used in this research are Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Results of analysis states that the cause of inefficiency in these hotels is derived from inputs that do not conform with the needs / going waste. From the results of calculation using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) show that not all hotels in Tawangmangu tourist areas have technically efficient performance. From thirty (30) Tawangmangu tourist hotels in the area there are only two hotels that have been done in an efficient work process technically that is Tejomoyo Hotels and Anugerah Indah Hotel plus one hotel in allocative efficiency is Wahyu Sari Hotel. Results of DEA analysis can be found a few things that is, almost all hotels have not technically and allocative efficiency, and when seen from the efficiency of each variable factor of production, the visible level of technical efficiency and allocative different. Suggestion for the hotel was not should pay more attention to efficient use of inputs in order to achieve maximum output, the use of qualified human resources, improve the comfort of guests and refers to another hotel that has been achieved efficiently.
