IMPLEMENTATION OF GUIDED INQUIRY LEARNING TO IMPROVE THE STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY AND LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT IN SOLUBILITY AND SOLUBILITY PRODUCT AT XI GRADE OF SMA AL ISLAM 1 SURAKARTA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2014/2015. Minor Thesis. Surakarta: Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. April. 2016. The objective of research was to improve: (1) the critical thinking ability (2) the learning achievement of XI MIA 3 graders of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in the solubility and solubility product. This study was a classroom action research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. Each of cycles included preparing, planning, acting, observing and reflecting stages. This research was taken place in the XI MIA 3 grade of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/2015. The data source derived from teacher and students. Techniques of collecting data used were test (critical thinking ability and knowledge aspect tests) and non-test (observation, attitude questionnaire, and interview). Data analysis was carried out using qualitative analysis techniques. The result of research showed that: (1) the critical thinking ability of students improved through guided inquiry learning in solubility and solubility product at XI MIA 3 grade of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. The proportion of students having high critical thinking ability was 54% in cycle I and it increase to 66% in cycle II. (2) The learning achievement of students improved through guided inquiry learning in solubility and solubility product at XI MIA 3 grade of SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. In this study, learning achievement included 3 aspects: knowledge, attitude, and skill. The learning achievement of students in knowledge aspect was 69% in cycle I, increase to 77% in cycle II. Meanwhile, in attitude had passed successfully 94% in cycle I and in skill aspect had passed successfully (100%) in cycle I.
