    Abstract

    ABSTRACT A furniture industry was able to provide a positive influence on the movement of regional economic growth but any impact their industry have risks pulmonary function impairment and occupational lung diseases such as pneumoconiosis were mainly due to exposure a dust, its 80 % through by the respiratory system (by inhalation). The present study aimed at analyzing wood dust environment exposure and its relationship to lung function capacity of employee in production department. This cross sectional study was carried out at employee in production department. The total study was 32 subjects, questioner was used in the study for determined characteristics of subjects. Physical examination and pulmonary function test (spirometer) of the subjects were performed. High Volume Dust Sampler was used collect the specimen of wood dust from the work place. The hypotheses analyzed by Spearman Rank correlation is significant at the 0,05 level. The results indicated significant relationship between the exposure environment levels of wood dust with lung function capacity on the production employees, the value of = 0.031 and Spearman rank correlation value is 0.383, which indicates the direction a positive correlation. The strength of correlation is low or weak. The conclusion of this study is significant relationship between the exposure environment levels of wood dust with lung function capacity on the production employees with the strength of correlation is low or weak. A weak correlation between the levels of wood dust environment with lung function capacity was reflected from value of Spearman 38.3%, while the capacity lung function associated with other factors indicated in this study amounted to 61.7%.
