    Abstract

    Dyah Retno Wardhani. K7411059. DEVELOPMENT OF ANDROID-BASED MOBILE POCKETBOOK AS AN ALTERNATIVE MEDIA FOR INDEPENDENT LEARNING IN ACCOUNTING SUBJECT MATTER. Thesis: The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University. October 2015. The objectives of this research are 1) to develop Android-based Mobile Pocketbook as an alternative media for independent learning in Accounting subject matter; 2) to examine the feasibility of the developed Android-based Mobile Pocketbook as an alternative media for independent learning in Accounting subject matter. This research used the Research and Development (R&D) method. It used the procedures claimed by Borg and Gall with some modifications. The subjects of research were the students in Grade XII of Social Science Department of State Secondary School 1 of Sukoharjo. The data of research were collected through questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated by using the construct validity by asking experts’ help. The data analysis was conducted by analyzing the assessments of media experts, material experts, and students on the developed module. The results of this research show that 1) the development of mobile pocketbook started by searching potentials and problems, gathering information about application to be used, validating the experts (feasibility assessment by experts), conducting first revision, testing the product (feasibility assessment by students), conducting second revision, testing the usage (feasibility assessment by students), and conducting third revision; 2) the developed Android-based Mobile Pocketbook was feasible to be used as an alternative media for independent learning. The feasibility of media based on the validation result by two material experts and one media expert got a very good score. The result of preliminary test to 6 students shows that 83.33% students assessed that the product fulfilled the very good criteria. The result of the field test to 28 respondents shows that 85.71% respondents assessed that the product fullfilled the very good criteria. The developed Android-based Mobile Pocketbook as an alternative learning media in Accounting subject matter fulfilled the very good criteria based on the assessments of the experts and students. Therefore, the developed Android-based Mobile Pocketbook is feasible to be used by students as an independent learning media. Keywords: Learning Media, Mobile Application, Independent Learning.
