    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Sofyan Arif Candra Sakti. ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-CULTURE IN KIRTI NJUNJUNG DRAJAT NOVEL AND ITS RELEVANCE AS A TEACHING MATERIAL BASED ON CHARACTER-BUILDING EDUCATION IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. Thesis, Surakarta: Pendidikan Bahasa Jawa. Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan. Universitas Sebelas Maret, Januari 2016. This research explain and describe (1) the socio-cultural aspect in Kirti Njunjung Drajat novel; (2) the educational values in Kirti Njunjung Drajat novel; (3) the relevance as a teaching material that is based on character-building education in senior high school. This research is a qualitative research that used descriptive qualitative method and content analysis. The research data is a novel titled Kirti Njunjung Drajat by R. Tg. Jasawidagda. The data validity used are a triangular theory and source. The footage technique used is purposive sampling. The data collection technique used are reading techniques, notes, and interviews. The data analysis used is interactive data analysis which includes three component which is data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research result showed that (1) the socio-cultural aspect in the novel covered the culture that consist of religious system, social system or social organization, knowledge system, language, art, tools and technology system, and livelihood system (2) the education value in the Kirti Njunjung Drajat novel consist of environment awareness, spiritual value that are divided into two which is religious value and moral value, religious value consist of obedience to Allah SWT., that is always pray to be given guidance for the issue that is being faced, and believe that Allah SWT., will give the best for His follower, moral value consists of positive activities such as liking to read, liking to write, and act intelligently (3) based on the novel analysis and interview with the expert judgement, teacher, and students, the relevance of Kirti Njunjung Drajat Novel can be used as a teaching material that is based on character-building education for eleventh grade of senior high school. Therefore, with the analysis of Kirti Njunjung Drajat Novel, it is expected that the teaching material that is based on character-building education in eleventh grade of senior high school become more variety. Students can also emulates the value of education from the character in the novel. Key words: Kirti Njunjung Drajat novel, educational values, socio-cultural aspect, teaching material
